Vacuums Guide » Reviews » ILIFE A4s Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review – A 2021 Deep Dive
Robotic vacuum cleaners are all the rage these days. Think about it, is there anything better than sitting back and watching the vacuum cleaner work without you having to lift a finger?
The first robotic vacuum cleaners had to be operated using a remote control. Fast forward to today, and they can do the job without your assistance, most robotic vacuums even put themselves on charge when their battery is low. Fabulous right?
ILIFE officially launched its intelligent robot vacuum cleaner range in 2010, and now ILIFE vacuums are sold worldwide. They have a large clientele in Russia, Asia, Europe, and America, and their vacuums are sold in over 40 countries worldwide.
The company was founded in 2007, and in just 13 years has taken the robot vacuum cleaner world by storm. ILIFE’s headquarters are in China, Asia-Pacific, and their robotic vacuum cleaners are a particular hit in Japan and China.
Here is a bit of information on why robotic vacuum cleaners are so good.
Benefits of Having a Robot Vacuum Cleaner
We are sure that you can think of more than a few benefits of owning a robot vacuum, here are some benefits we thought of:
- Less Work for You
- Cleans Exactly Where It Needs To
- Low Power
- Versatile
- Long Battery Life
- Reduces the Amount of Vacuuming You Do
Do we even need to say any more? It is pretty clear that using a robot vacuum alone will not deep clean your home, but it sure does maintain it beautifully.
Robot vacuums go to where the dirt is hiding. You can also program the vacuum to clean specific areas of the house that are the dirtiest.
Robot vacuums are compact and don’t use up a lot of power, even though they have a usage time of roughly two hours.
The vacuum cleaner can clean under furniture, carpets, hard floors, and all those nooks and crannies in your home. They are compact enough to be taken away with you too if you need to use it outside of your home.
As we have touched upon above, most robot vacuums have two hours of battery life. That is amazing and would undoubtedly clean a small apartment a few times over. Robot vacuums do usually recharge themselves and once their battery is low, they make their way back to the docking station.
Makes sense, right? The more you use the robot vacuum cleaner, the less you will need to vacuum. Households with a robot vacuum cleaner have reported that they vacuum the house far less often than they did prior to purchasing the robot vacuum.
All of the above benefits are good enough to make you want to invest in a robot vacuum cleaner. Now, let’s find out what is so special about the ILIFE A4s robot vacuum. In this review, you will discover all about ILIFE’s A4s robot vacuum cleaner. We will be picking apart its main features and pinpointing its good and bad points. By the end of this review, you should know for sure if the vacuum is right for your needs.

ILIFE’s A4s vacuum cleaner is one of the smaller robotic vacuum cleaners on the market, It is only 12.2 inches wide and 3 inches tall. The vacuum is straightforward to operate and has a primary ‘On/Off’ button on the vacuum’s top. In comparison to other robotic vacuum cleaners manufactured by ILIFE, the A4s have superior features such as a 500ml dustbin capacity.
You might be thinking that ‘ILIFE’ is a rather interesting name for a vacuum company, and you are right. The story behind the name is that the letter ‘I’ and the word ‘LIFE’ have been combined to ‘reflect the purpose of a better life,’ and that is precisely what the ILIFE A4s’ mission is.
Who’s It For?
The A4s vacuum cleaner is ideal for homes with young children or pets. The vacuum has been designed for cleanliness maintenance purposes, and not for deep cleaning. Busy people that need their home vacuumed quickly appreciate how the robot vacuum cleaner can just be scheduled to clean and do so even when nobody is in the house.
Pet owners would greatly appreciate having the cat or dog hair kept down to a minimum between deep cleans too. Its remarkable ability to pick up pet hair may even reduce allergies and make your home overall more welcoming for pet allergy sufferers.
Most of us never remember to charge our phones until it is too late, so you can imagine how forgettable a robotic vacuum is to charge! Forgetful people needn’t worry. The vacuum cleaner takes itself to the charging dock once its battery is low. One less thing to think about!
Households with multiple floor types can use the ILIFE A4s vacuum cleaner with confidence as the vacuum automatically adjusts to suit the floor it’s cleaning. Manual, handheld vacuum cleaners almost always need to have their settings changed when they transition from one-floor type to another, so you can imagine how useful it is not to have to fiddle with the settings of this little vacuum.
We wouldn’t recommend this product for anyone that needs a vacuum cleaner for deep cleaning. It will not leave your floors utterly spotless as robotic vacuums, in general, do not have a suction power even remotely comparable to handheld vacuum cleaners.
What We Like About the ILIFE A4s Vacuum Cleaner
We must first acknowledge and give credit to the vacuum’s quality consistency and reliability. Its suction power does not vary much from use to use, and you know exactly how it is going to perform as soon as it’s turned on.
The vacuum cleaner is extremely convenient. With up to 140 minutes of use every time it is fully charged, it has plenty of time to clean your whole apartment. Coming home to a relatively clean apartment after a full day at work is a delight after all.
It can perform three scheduled vacuum sessions per day, plus endless spontaneous cleans (if charged of course). When the battery is running low, the robot will take itself to the charging dock, leaving you to get on with your own thing.
For such a small vacuum cleaner, it has brilliant suction power and can even rid the house of pet hair, and pet owners know just how difficult that is to do. Its dust bin doesn’t need emptying constantly like other robot vacuums on the market due to its extra-large capacity.
Programming the vacuum is a breeze; it is simple and has very basic steps to follow. Once the initial set-up is complete, the vacuum cleaner will perform the scheduled tasks until it is instructed otherwise.
The ILIFE A4s robot vacuum is short and compact enough to clean under furniture and other hard-to-reach places. As long as the couch or bed is raised off the floor more than three inches, then the vacuum can clean under it. No more rearranging furniture every time you want to clean at last!
Finally, it is super silent while it operates. This is such a forgettable feature but one that makes a massive difference to whether or not it can be used when guests are round. It won’t wake a sleeping baby, and you can certainly have a normal conversation comfortably while the robot vacuum cleans in the background.
What We Don’t Like About the ILIFE A4s Vacuum Cleaner
Robot vacuum cleaners are supposedly ‘smart,’ but unfortunately, that is not the word we would use to describe this vacuum. It is clumsy, over-ambitious, and miss-calculates its abilities. The ILIFE A4s vacuum cleaner will almost certainly get itself stuck under furniture and need rescuing.
Usually, robotic vacuum cleaners have the ability to map out your home. After the first few cleaning sessions, robot vacuums remember your home’s layout and clean faster and faster every time. The A4s do not seem to move swiftly and are prone to going round and round in circles vacuuming the same area multiple times.
It should not be used on delicate floors. ILIFE clearly states that this vacuum cleaner should not be used on a black floor or carpet with a pile higher than 12mm, and they are right!
The ILIFE A4s vacuum cleaner struggles to move on high pile carpet and may overheat if it struggles to move, this could lead to the vacuum damaging the carpet. As for delicate or black floors, it may scratch the floor or cause other severe damage that would be pricey to repair.
ILIFE is happy to replace or repair faulty vacuum pieces; however, the repair process takes a long time, and patience wears thin. You will struggle to find a replacement vacuum piece for your robot vacuum if your appliance is out of warranty too.
Although the vacuum does pick-up a lot of embedded, stubborn dust and debris, the waste doesn’t always make it to the dust bin. The ILIFE A4s gets clogged up which results in having to take the pieces apart to remove the dirt and clear the blockage.
PROS
- Compact
- Long battery life
- Multiple cleaning modes
- Can be scheduled
CONS
- Simple ‘no frills’ design
What’s Included?
The vacuum cleaner needs a Li-ion battery and a charger to work. Fortunately, the A4s comes with both, so purchasing the battery and charger separately is unnecessary. The robot also has a free 12-month limited warranty that covers a wide range of vacuum issues, which really boosts your confidence in your purchase decision.

Overview Of Features
The ILIFE A4s robot vacuum cleaner has plenty of innovative features that make the vacuum as great as it is. Here is an overview of what each feature means to you:
Double V-Shaped Bristle Brush
The double v-shaped bristle brush is competent and effective. It easily picks up dust bunnies, small pieces of food, dirt, and debris from carpet and hard floors.
Two Suction Powers
Small and large pieces of debris can be cleared up using this robot vacuum. There are two suction powers available depending on the size of the waste. The Ordinal suction mode lifts dust, crumbs, and other small bits of debris while the Max Mode tackles larger debris.
Ultra-Large Dustbin
Thank goodness for the 450ml dustbin in this vacuum. Compact vacuums usually have a compact dust bin to match, but that is not the case with this vacuum cleaner.
Customizable Cleaning Modes
Choose between edge, spot, scheduled, or auto cleaning modes depending on the severity or concentration of dust to pick up.
Mini-Room Cleaning abilities
Mini-room cleaning technology uses algorithms to map out and execute the cleaning task properly.
Sensors
The vacuum is equipped with smart sensors that recognize obstacles to avoid damaging the vacuum cleaner or your furniture.
Hands-Free
Schedule up to 3 cleans per day, and don’t even think about charging the vacuum or helping it out in any way. The vacuum cleaner is programmed to clean when a schedule is set and doesn’t require any assistance.
Self-Charging
Yes, that is right, the vacuum plugs itself in when it’s low on battery.

Review Summary
The ILIFE A4s robot vacuum cleaner is reliable, simple, and compact, it isn’t overly complicated to use and doesn’t waste any time or energy on fancy features that no one is going to use anyway. We feel like it is very worth trying and is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a robot vacuum cleaner.
Robot Vacuums Buying Guide
Although robot vacuum cleaners are relatively low priced these days, they should last for a good few years. This is why making the most informed purchase possible is immensely important.
Anyone inexperienced with robot vacuum cleaners may not know what to look out for and which features are important and overlooked. That is why we have put together this buying guide to give you a little helping hand.
Battery Life
High-quality robot cleaners have a battery life of approximately two hours. If the vacuum you wish to buy has significantly less battery life then reconsider your purchase.
Scheduling
The whole point of robot vacuum cleaners is that they can clean without you having to help it. If a robot vacuum does not have a scheduling feature, it means that it will only be able to work when you are home. That would be a real shame considering that robot vacuums are meant to be convenient cleaning solutions.
Noise
Now, this is important! Vacuum cleaners that make too much noise really interfere with the quality of living in the home. Now imagine having a super loud robot vacuum that runs for two hours at a time, that would be two hours of loud and interrupted conversations and TV programs.
Customer Service
When making a purchase such as a vacuum cleaner, it is best practice to research the company and its customer service. If the manufacturer has a well-respected customer service team known for its excellent service skills, that is a great start.
Accessories
Vacuum cleaners with accessories such as crevice tools and extensions are great investments. Robot vacuum cleaners don’t usually have any accessories as accessories need to be attached by someone. The whole point of a robot vacuum cleaner is for you to do as little of the work as possible.
Remote Control
Robot vacuums usually have a remote control. That could be a virtual remote control that you download to your smartphone; either way, you will have a way of controlling the vacuum.
