Ilife V7S Pro – the most successful entry level robot vacuum has a facelift –

I don’t know about you, but I like to have complete control over the expenses. I keep a tidy excel with monthly expenditure and review everything from time to time to make sure I am the most efficient. I like to spend less, whenever possible. The iLife V7S Pro robot vacuum is marketed based on this philosophy. Although it doesn’t come with SLAM mapping, there are many cases when it doesn’t really need to. People with small apartments or who need to clean only a small part of their houses are the perfect example of potential buyers.

It is worth mentioning that iLife is at its 3rd version of the V7 line. I’ve reviewed their first model around 1 year ago. Since than, the V7 knew another improvement with the V7S. And now, the PRO version comes and takes over. I won’t lie to you, the last version doesn’t have big improvements hardware-wise, so I won’t bother you with all the technical specs which you can already read in this article. However, I will point out the main features of the new model and compare it with the previous version. In about a week from now, I will compare this robot with other 2 units which are rolling at the moment, the Xiaomi Mijia and the Neato D5. Product Specifications

Cleaning modes

This unit maintains the cleaning modes seen in iLife V7S (Auto Cleaning, Spot Cleaning, Edge Cleaning and Scheduled Cleaning). 600 Pa ensure your floor will get a good clean. The air intake is large enough to please me, and so is the double-V brush. Only one side brush works to add debris in the suctioning path. There’s a new cleaning mode reserved for mopping. As the product comes with a separat tank for water, you can use this mode to have your hard floors mopped instead of vacuumed. Unfortunately, you can’t have both at the same time.

Battery

This model uses the same battery you can find in any iLife robovac. A 2600 mAh Li-Ion cell delivers all the juice it needs to clean your home continuously for up to 140-150 minutes. What’s been improved is the charging capability, which now takes a bit less than 5 hours.

Dirt/Water Tanks

As presented above and similarly to the V7S, this product comes with 2 recipients, one for vacuuming and one for mopping. Both tanks can hold 10 oz (300 ml). The robot comes with the water tank installed. This happens because the tank allows you to also have the mop tray mounted on the robot (which won’t happen if the standard dust recipient would be equipped instead). The V7S had a 400 ml water tank. The sized has been reduced to accommodate the pump functionality.

Filtration

Same efficient double filter is mounted on the robot. It is washable and there are a few extra spare filters in the package. Although it is not HEPA grade, it is very efficient, especially for trapping dust.

Weight & Dimensions

Has the same weight and dimensions as the V7/V7S: 13.5 inches in diameter and 3.2 inches in height. Weighs 7 pounds.

Usability

The robot runs smoothly on bare floors and thin rugs. It has small problems climbing tick carpets. It produces a low sound, one of the lowest sound and heard in robot vacuums (about 60 dB). Everything is well packed and well designed. Same low height allows this product to wander under some pieces of furniture. The V7S Pro comes with the same arsenal of sensors as its older relative (4 cliff sensors, an IR matrix of proximity sensors and front bumper). You can use it without any issues on 2000 sq ft. areas.

Price

Conclusions

If you have less 2000 sq ft. to clean, low pile rugs or bare floors and don’t really need multiple room navigation, I safely recommend you this product. It will offer the same cleaning power provided by other premium brands, but for half the price (or less). If you want to get rid of the dirt automatically and to maintain your household cleaner for longer periods of time, you now have the chance to do so, for a completely non-prohibitive price.
