Since 1908, Hoover is the home appliance manufacturer which has been trusted for durable, highly functional, versatile and reliable products by millions of Americans. From their line of products, the Hoover Commercial HushTone upright vacuum cleaners emerged some time ago with the Lite version, an appliance that has continued to grace multiple commercial contractors and office settings with its great cleaning power and efficiency. But Hoover never stops evolving, that is why I am today able to present you a new commercial vacuum, the HushTone Hard-Bagged. From face value, it may appear like some of the ordinary vacuum cleaners but looking into its details will reveal the real power behind this compact upright. This article comes handy as an objective review, highlighting the features that set this vacuum cleaner apart from the rest. In a few words:

| Suction power | The Hush Tone Hard-Bagged has a 2-speed motor, which gives the user the possibility to choose between a very strong suction power (which stays uniform through all your cleaning exercise), and decent suction power (but with a noise level 69db). In high-traffic areas, using the boost mode will ensure that you can clean thoroughly. Soil, sand, large pieces of dirt and even coins will be sucked in without any problem, based on a measured 152 CFM, which is an absolutely great airflow value (as normal vacuum cleaners range between 50 and 100 CFM). Another great feature of this unit is the 4 level height adjustment. Thanks to this, you can vacuum any type of floor, from high pile carpets to bare floors. Last but not least, the models with the IntelliBelt feature a permanent belt which is automatically shut down when a jam occurs. |
| Input power | The 2-speed motor requires an input power of 1200W. This will not necessarily hike your power bills, as most of today’s uprights consume the same. The motor runs on 10 Amps / 120 Volts circuits. |
| Dust capacity | Unlike most of the upright vacuum cleaners that are bagless, Hoover Commercial Hush Tone Hard-Bagged comes with a clean-drop bag that is big enough to trap all forms of dirt, right from pollen to debris and dust. Similarly, the clean-drop bag is made in such a way to ensure that there is little to no dust escaping when disposing the bags. This is not to mention the performance indicator, which lets you know when the bag is full or rather when the appliance is clogged. Irrespective of how big the cleaning area is, therefore, you will know in time when the bag is about to fill so you can prepare to dispose it. This is an ideal system especially in a commercial setting where you expect a lot of traffic. The bag is not that big at 1.12 gallons, but it’s enough for most businesses. |
| Filtration system efficiency | This Hoover has a sealed allergen system, which ensures that 99.9% of pollen, dirt and dust is trapped, down to particles smaller than 0.5 microns. It is further enhanced with the Hexaguard Technology to assure users of clean air. Thanks to the sealed HEPA filtration system, the appliance takes care of users with allergies, and almost every drop of allergen is trapped within the system. As a side note, HEPA filters were just recently introduced on commercial vacuums; usually, only bags were made of HEPA media materials. The HEPA filter and the inlet filter are rinsable, but remember to allow them 24h for a complete dry. Also, the producer recommends you to change the carbon filter once per year. |

| Price | As expected, these units are a bit more expensive than standard Hoover models. After a bit of digging, I’ve found that the cheapest one is the HushTone 13, and the most expensive is the HushTone 15+. |
An important point which I haven’t included in the table above is the origin of the vacuum. Unlike many Hoovers, this one is built entirely in Cookeville, TN. Thus it could safely be added to my list of vacuum cleaners built in US. Another thing I haven’t mentioned is that these commercial vacuum cleaners are CRI certified with the Gold seal of approval.

Talking of Hoover Commercial HushTone Hard-Bagged however, this is an appliance that is versatile, effective and reliable.
